Reframing parenting has been eye openining
I came here after having just completed an exhausting expensive vacation with my family and coming home thinking, I can't wait to relax a little while I get back to work. I realize I'm a workaholic who has been taught since birth to hustle and drive to succeed. I know my family gets the rewards from this hard work and determination. I enjoy it as well. But after coming home from all the fights over the vacation and the ungrateful attitude I got from everyone during this last (expensive overseas) vacation. I really don't want to do another one. Both the kids get everything they could possibly want, need and far more than I ever had. They go to the best schools and get to do their sports during the summers (instead of work like I did). Yet they seem to just want more and more despite the therapy sessions we pay for both of them. So I turned to Exothermique after my oldest came back and said she doesn't want to go on these family vacations either, and just wants to stay home and play with friends. I was floored that she was at all stressed, or as unhappy as I was coming back off the best vacation spot we had ever been to. Exothermique has opened my eyes to things I had not really not sat back to consider before. And even made me realize there was a little bit of envy in me for the other fathers that didn't take these kinds of crazy family vacations, but still seemed to love hanging and doing things with their kids every day, even through their teenage years...
